[font="Times New Roman"][size=3]Hi
A newbie here. I've been following the discourse on the Audi A6 quattro ABS issue. I have '99 A6 Quattro Avant and 10 minutes after I had two new tyres put on by my local garage the ABS light came on accompanied by the flashing brake light. Now they come on sporadically and for an indeterminate length of time. Sometimes they last for a few seconds and at other times they may last an hour or more. Then again it may disappear when the ignition has been turned off and turned back on again. I found this site:-

http://www.sjmautotechnik.com/troubl...ing/brake.html
which gave me some insight as to what was happening inside the sensor.
I would hate to go and buy a refurbished ABS unit only to find it didn't cure the problem.
Are the sensors easily removed? How do I determine which sensor is down? Is the ABS not functioning when the lights are on?

Incidentally, the 'Check Engine' light has been with me for a year. It goes off when it is cleared by the computer sufficiently enough to get through the emission test. All opinion states it is a faulty sensor somewhere, but no-one can pinpoint the exact one and it's an expensive hobby changing out sensors.
