But they are locked open not closed... I need to get them to work to get it registered.

The cable works just fine and pulls taught, but the actuators on calipers do not budge, even with persuasion from a screw driver.

Does anyone know exactly how the actuators work or why they might be locked up? Or how to free them?

Do they just engage the regular piston?

 

Can you let us know what car and what year?

It's a 97 a6 quattro, auto, 130k

 

Well, for anyone who cares... I got the actuators to move with a pry bar and enough to hold the car while in gear but the springs aren't strong enough to retract them :-/
