Default Passenger window

I have just bought an A6 1.8T Avant Auto on a V plate - very happy..... except for the passenger window....

When I first test drove the car I made sure that everything worked...which it did, however when I went back to collect it I found that the passenger side front window went down but wont come back up. This is the same for both the passenger and drivers side switches. I have managed to get it back up by removing the switch harness and re-inserting it... The window returns to the top no bother. I have also replaced the switch with one from the rear door but the same thing happens. I have also proved that the font is ok as I put that one in the back and it worked a treat.....

I would like to know whether anyone has come across this problem before I wander down to the dealer......

Many thanks....

Oh and great site...

Also check the window guides. Theyre a very common failure. You should be able to heard the motor trying to raise and lower the window. If you dont you have some sort of electrical failure.

Default RE: Passenger window

hello, i had the same problem with the front seat passenger window too. Sometimes when I tried to raise the window it would stop halfway and i would have to have someone physically pull it up.
The dealership fixed the problem and they mentioned to me that they have "seen this problem before" and they weren't surprised when I mentioned the problem with the window. I believe it was the window mechanism. My neighbor who has an S4 also had the same problem and a couple of weeks ago he fixed the problem himself, so it's probably not too difficult to repair the issue.
