Default PDC sensors acting up on A6 4.2

Hi all, when I bought my 2002 4.2 Sport 2 years ago, the rear parking sensors were acting up (looooong warning tone when when shift into revers indicates 'something' wrong with sensors)

Dealer simply replaced all sensors under warranty. Well, factory warranty is long gone, and it's been over a year since the work was done so that warranty is gone too!.

Now, same problem! I'd say about 20% of the time they actually work, other 80% I get that annoying loooooong warning tone.

I have agood non-dealer mechanic, but he can't access the PDC system w/computer so he can't troubleshoot very effectively (said same thing with my '01 X5 4.4 which also has failing PDC sensors!!!)

So.... anyone else experience this? Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Dave

( APS ) Acoustic Parking System is the name but you need VAG or Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051 connected up and vehicle self-diagnosis and no other way to access the system to trouble shoot
