phone jack?
i just found a phone jack in the bottom rear of my center console? it is mounted in there like you could use it for something but i have no clue. if anyone has the same thing or knows anything about this please fill me in.
thanks |
im guessing u have an older audi? mine has this, i have a 95, and if u ask ur parents, or remember ur self (depending how old u r) the first car phones where pretty much the size of a house portable now a days with the buttons/screen to make calls on the outside, and they would connect right into the car at that phone jack, if u open ur arm rest, that little grey (grey in my car) square at the front of the arm rest on the inside is the cradle for the phone

yep yep the "phone jack" is for a phone ..... the old school "bag phones" fockers were huge .....
|
you should have a speaker/mic on the A pillar right by the windshield ..... damn technology is schweet :D
|
lol a bag phone wouldnt fit in this like u said those fockers were huge, too big to fit in the arm rest, heres a link to 1 from the 80s, this is what would fit in the arm rest - the mount its on, all that u would do, is take the phone itself, and its wire (duh lol) and run the wire outside the arm rest (theres a hole for it) into that jack, and there u go, u have a car phone http://cgi.ebay.com/1980s-VINTAGE-MO...3286.m63.l1177
kinda makes me want to go out and get one just for the hell of it lol...that way when friends get in the car i can be like...look what i got :) lol |
its a 98 a6 quattro so it is older and there is that speaker/mic on the a piller, hey thanks guys i was really qurious about that, i might have to get the phone now.

Page 132 (i think) in my 1999 Audi A6 Owner's manual:

Check the trunk for a very long spool of telephone cable.

Anyone out there have one of these that still works? I have everything there still, from the phone in the console to the antana in the rear glass. I know the old bag phones worked much better in the country and being we are in nothern MI and it has a hands free mode it maybe worth hooking up for us. Will the cell companies let you use one?
Thanks BR |
