Default Possible new car purchase, info needed

Yep, i'm new here, and not really that familiar with the Audi line of vehicles (my friend does own an A4) I have found this car here locally and just wanted some feedback on things to look for, perhaps some comments from anyone who has/does own this particular model, upkeep, repair costs, things that go/will go wrong. I have been searching since yesterday and have found alot of info. Thanks for any help guys.

For that price and mileage, you should be able to get a 2.7t. You will be disappointed in the 2.8.

It does not sound horribly out of line for the mileage and 2.8l engine. If you live in the snowbelt, yoou'll love the quattro. Keep in mind that timing belts usually need to be done in the 90k range. Figure on $1000-1500 depending on whether an indie shop or dealer does it. You should consider having a knowledgeable Audi shop check out the car. You don't want to be surprised by $1 of suspension or $3k of transmission work.

I assume you're looking at a wagon for utility and safety, not performance. Then you'll be pleased. If you want any future performance, avoid the 2.8l engine as you cannot make any meaningful performance mods. Otherwise it is a solid engine that will last a long time if well maintained.

I'm going to go look at it this weekend. The timing blet has not been changed, but the current owner said that could be arranged/accomodated if I wanted to purchase the car. I'm not big into performance, but have an afinity for wagons, of any make (hence my accord wagon show car). I like the looks of the car and the versatility as well since I have two kids. It looks well maintained from the pictures I have seen and pampered from talking to the owner.

A nice drop, a nice set of rims, and my daily grocery getter will be complete. Thanks for the response guys. Hopefully, I'll be an official owner here soon.

I agree with that. My last car was a 99 2.8 A4 that was fun to drive, but only 190hp. Not any get up and go..and if you have more than 2 adults in the car, the car struggles with hills. You can find some 2000 4.2 A6's for less than $15k.
