Default Is it possible to reset the service indicator myself?

Hi all

I have searched numerous sites and tried one method but it did not work. I have got a 2001 A6 2.4 tiptronic. What is the average fuel efficiency on this car? I get 8-9 km/l.

Thank you Mike

Do you have an Owner's manual? It is in there.

Not in my 96 A6 or 97 A6 Avant manual.

Also can't find it in Ross-Tech or Bently manual.

My guess is that it is different for each vehicle...

Bob Martin is correct, it is clearly stated in the owners manual. It involves depressing some instrument panel adjusters. I will look it up in my manual tonight. You have a 2.4 or a 4.2? Judging from your fuel economy issues it is more likely the 4.2

This is what my 2003 manual says to do:
turn off ignition
turn on ignition while holding down button next to speedo,
SERVICE! will appear in the display
press button next to tach until SERVICE! is cleared
the display should now show the next service event
you are now done!

Enjoy

Yes I have also tried it but no success.

Is there a specific sequence in pressing the buttons. Holding in the speedo side while pressing the rpm side?

Thank you

Yes, the secret is to follw the instructionsEXACTLY as presented above. Repeat if necessary. It will work if correctly done. I have done it several times myself. It is word for word straight out of the owners manual.

Apparently one can now purchase audi/vw specific scan tools that will reset the service reminder by pushing a few buttons on the scan tool. I think the tool comes from Autel, try the web site http://www.auteltech.com/.

Enjoy

I too have successfully reset the Indicator not only on my A6 but on my friends A4 follow the directions word for word and it should work as JCMAC has stated!!
