Default Potential Audi Buyer newbie here

I am looking at an 2009 Audi A6 Quatro 117K and I would like to know if it has a timing belt or timing chain and whether these have any common potentially costly issues when they get higher mileage?

I do realize it is an Audi and they are expensive to maintain especially with OEM parts and service.

Thanks,

Hello corad! Hope you are doing fine! I may suggest then to think the option of leasing. I have leased mine Audi from DSR Leasing https://dsrleasing.com/ and I am very satisfied! You will always find great deals in their website!

Oh jebus. Why don't you stop spamming your lease crap across this board. You're such a goof.

Hi

you didn't specify what engine it has. Is it the 3.2 or something else. If it is the 3.2 it is the timing chain. I suspect the other models are too. What is the milage? owner history etc?

Welcome corad, all N. American `09 A6s have chain driven engines(3.2, 3.0T, and 4.2). Chain issues do exist, but likely more prominent on neglected vehicles. Any documented service history to review?

Good luck and as always, a pre-purchase inspection by a local Audi specialist(dealer or otherwise) is usually a good investment when purchasing any pre-owned Audi.
