Default Preventative Maintenance with Auto Rx

For anyone who might be interested....

I recently purchased four bottles of Auto Rx and have started the engine cleaning process. If you don't know about Auto Rx, look here:

http://www.auto-rx.com/

Anyhow, the four bottles are enough for two complete cleanings of my 4.2 engine. I only have 68K on the motor, but I want to be sure that it's sparkling when I'm done. After the the cleaning and rinsing I'll make the switch to full synthetic oil. I haven't noticed poor performance, but I've only owned the car for a month and I don't have a way to measure performance loss.

I'm going to keep y'all posted on my progress and let you know if I notice any changes.....good or bad.

Besides trying to keep the engine clean, I'm thinking of the fuel system as well. Last week I dumped a bottle of Gumout Regane in the gas tank in order to give my fuel system a good cleansing. I had good reason to do this....the car was a bit hesitant off the line at minimum throttle. After a mere 150 miles I noticed a change for the better.....the hesitation vanished! Not bad for a bottle of snake oil!

I took a mental picture of the varnishing inside my motor that could be seen under the oil cap. I'll let you know if it goes away over time. The entire process will take me a few months, so hang in there until I'm done.

Regarding the synthetic oil. I'll probably use Mobil1 5/30 after the cleaning.

Aaron
