Check kbb and get it inspected by an indie who knows Audis real well. You're looking at a 9 year old car -- they don't get traded unless there is something wrong. The issue: is the problem trivial or serious? Caveat emptor.
Used car definitions
NEEDS NOTHING-term widely used by a toupee wearing shyster that actually means the he picked the vehicle up at auction and has little or no clue how to even change oil.
BE LOW KBB-KBB is so far off right now they can shove that book up their A$$. Both NADA and KBB are different price ranges dealers and Insurance thieves seem to use what fits their needs best.
QUICK SALE- $h1t I need to move this thing the bank is breathing down my neck and killing me with the interest.
7900- I hope I can get the 4000 I paid at auction for this thing before the timing belt breaks... But I'm still going to drive it around while I sell it (pictures taken at home)
I would take it for a beating of a test ride, leave your emotional side that really likes the car at home and if it seems to run great figure $2000.00 or so to get the maintenance up to date(replace timing belt and cooling system parts and fluid/filter changes)
These used car bandits know all about the maintenance on Audi's. most 1st owners sell them just before the timing belt and water-pump is due outside of warranty around 90K
7900
-2000 maintenance
5900
-900(un-for seen b/s or just a personal bailout)
$5000 cash that's it, take it or leave it. When he says no because the car is mint. Tell him to produce the service records for it and prove it. I guarantee every person on this forum has an "Audi Receipts" file. If that file is up to date and with the car you will fetch a better price.
I'm also willing to bet he only has one key $300 for a key at Audi and 50/50 that the one key is a valet not a remote.

Moreover, I wouldn't buy anything from people listing on Craig's List, even if you'd hit me with a proverbial ten foot pole.
I would rather purchase a car on EBay, place that has "Buyer's Insurance" if the transaction is done right.
But that's just me.
The guys are right.
If this dealer doesn't have the guts to sell this car the right way, probably is doing exactly what J says: trying to make an easy buck on an auction car.
