Problems with Symphony Radio - No power, Fuses OK

Hello,

I have an 2004 Audi Allroad and several months ago I started having problems with my radio (Symphony II with BOSE and satellite). It would intermittently loose connection to the satellite receiver and would later come on and off. Also I noticed a reduction in FM reception when the problem came up. The radio would stay on for several minutes and then shut down.

At one point, the radio decided no longer to connect to the satellite receiver and could no longer connect to it.

Finally one day the whole radio quit....

I lived for several months without a radio, but decided recently to purchase a used radio from a 2005 S4 (with Bose and Sat), thinking that the problem was with the radio. I pulled the old radio and plugged the new one in, however I am not getting any power to the unit. I checked the fuses in the fuse panel (left driver side door) and 10A fuse on the unit and they both look OK. I checked to see if there was any power coming to the unit using a volt meter on the positive and negative connections on the wire harness and get 0... Seems like there is some problem between the fuse panel and the radio, but do not know what.

I had just recently purchased a VAG COM cable and software. A scan revealed an error code that there was no power to the radio.

Has anyone else had similar problems or have any suggestions.

Thanks

Track the wiring back to fuse box. Sound like some corrosion happen to the connectors and it not make contact.

Good luck.

Having the same issue, did you ever figure out what the problem was?

Make Sure Radio Face Isn't Detached

I just had the issue with my stereo not powering up after removing it to add on a bluetooth adapter. I have a Symphony II in my 06 a4 quattro and found it unresponsive after pulling it out. Naturally I checked through all the forums I could find and tried removing/replacing the fuses and even disconnected the battery for a while in hopes that it would power back up. I spent nearly 4 hours searching for a solution trying every combination imaginable because I have the radio code for my unit and refused to go to the dealer for them to charge out the butt for a solution.

Well once I finally gave up, I started putting everything back and noticed that the face plate on my stereo wasn't flush from side to side. After pulling the unit back out to firmly press the face plate flush again power was fully restored! For my situation I knew my unit was receiving power as it was cycling through when I would pop the fuse back in, it just wouldn't turn on or show any display. Turns out that when I was pulling the unit out using the keys, once I got it un-hitched, I grabbed the unit with my hands from the top and bottom and pulled with force to get it out. Apparently I pulled with a little too much force and separated the face of the stereo from it's body and that was all it took. Long story short, be careful when using the keys to pull the unit out. I know this is an old thread, but hopefully it will help the next guy that comes across this situation.
