Default Procedure for Replacing Stock Radio w/ Stock Radio

Greetings,

Dealer and local shop have confirmed that my radio tuner (k-box) is dead. I have Bose system in my 05 A6. I purchased a stock replacement from a junkyard that showed the unit working in the wrecked vehicle. Is replacement as simple as installing the used unit, and entering the radio code, or is there more to the process? I have heard that the radio somehow needs to be mated w/ the car's MMI system. I'm not sure what that exactly means as I am new to Audi.

Thank you.
