Default QUATTRO QUESTION 2.7T

I was told by Tire shop that I need 4 tires of equal tread or I can ruin transmission. I have 2 tires with 70% tread and 2 new ones. Anybody know anything about what they are talking about. Hate to buy 2 more new tires, But I would also hate to ruin tranny. Any advice appreciated

I would do it. I've read alot abotu 4 wheel drive and all wheel drive and having different tires etc.
I would not go staggered with rims.
I would have the same brand, model tire on all 4 wheels
and I would rotate frequently to prevent uneven wear.
I'm sure some of this isnt as big a deal as people make it to be but I CAN tell you a 225/60/16 bridgestone WILL be a different size then a 225/60/16 good year.. very slightly but different companies WILL have a slightly different size tire even though theyre marked the same size. So if you want to err on the side of caution do it.. If youre a gambler f**k around. I doubt anythign major would happen.. But do you have a warranty in case?

They are all the same tire and size. I bought them used with rims, but for some reason 2 tires were new and 2 with 70% tread. I drove over a screw with one of the new ones and it needs to be replaced(in the sidewall). So basically, I will have 1 brand new tire, 1 with 95% tread and 2 with 70%.

No warranty left.
