Quattro vs FWD in 2005-2011 3.2 Models

Does anyone else notice that the quattros in the 2005-2011 3.2 A6 models do not have the same pickup and engine power as the FWD models. Not sure if this is just how an AWD car is suppose to drive but when I go petal to the floor in the Quattro the engine just gradually runs through the gears with no additional response (I've tried this on 3 separate Quattro models). On the other hand, my old FWD 2007 A6 took off with a lot of torque and was an incredibly fun ride. Any comments on this? Trying to buy my second A6 but can't find any FWD's for sale! Thanks!

Not sure about the A6 but I've noticed that with the A3 as well. I think it's the nature of the beast. All the extra moving parts, bringing power from the front through the differential all the way back to the rear axle will cost you performance. You also add extra weight so this is not surprising.
I've raced my a3 2.0t FWD stock (6MT) against an a3 2.0t "Quattro" (auto), stage 2 and to my surprise I didn't lose. Yeah I didn't really win either but on a roll I was able to keep up with the other a3 while it was not able to pull away from me. He certainly got me from a traffic light since I wasn't able to grip like Quattro does (or fake Quattro as I like to call the A3's version of it).
However looking at my S4 now there is no way I would have as much fun with it if it only had FWD. Even with extra power available 0-60 would suck in FWD.
