Quick question - oil capacity of 3.0 V6?

I don't have an owner's manual and am about to place my Amsoil order. I figured 6 qts would be enough, but just want to double check (would also be doing a filter change). Thanks!!

6qts will do it. 0W-30 nothing else there are tiny ports that the oil needs to be thin enough to get into when cold for the cam adjusters.
Also order some German oil filters for it they have a check valve in them to protect you. Filters at the auto store don't.

I use mobil-1 in mine, $26 for a 5qt jug at walmart.

add 1/3 can of seafoam to crankcase 30 miles before you change your oil to clean out the sludge. Do a search on seafoam treatment.

Here are some parts suppliers;

My 02 A6 takes 6.5 quarts on the button. Don't forget to fill the new oil filter a little bit before you put it back on.

I searched/found this thread earlier today before taking my daughter's 2003 A4 3.0 in for an oil change. The correct answer: 6.5 quarts.

Don't make fun of me for not DIY. My local indie changes oil and provides filter (I provide the Mobil1) for under $20. Not worth it to me to grovel under the car to save $10.

I think I'm going that way too. Every time I crawl under there I find something else that needs to be repaired.
