The volume on the Bose system is not like the rest of the world. I think the circuit is called something like a PLL but can't remember for sure. It can be fixed do a web search and and you'll find a few places that will fix the head. I think there is one in Mass just south of Boston and I heard of one in Fla but can't remember any of the names. Another approach would be to get a used head from a recycle yard like the one in Pa or Force Five in Concord NH. Just remember you'll need the codes

Default RE: Radio - NO SOUND - amp problem?

99 A6 (AVANT) - BOSE CONCERT radio - LIGHTS UP BUT CAN ONLY HERE FAINT SOUND FROM REAR SPEAKER / WOOFER WHEN TURNED ALL THE WAY UP - ALL FACTORY SYSTEM. bEFORE THIS THE VOLUME / POWER **** DIDN'T ALWAYS RESPOND IMMEDIATLY TO VOLUME CHANGES

I took off the connections at the factory amp / bass tube and plugged it back in and the radio will worked for a few minutes thenthe volume will die again and I will only hear the faint sound of the base woofer. It does this each time i unplug it and reattach it

Any suggestions?
