Radio problems...help...
Hello, first time poster, hope I can find some knowledgeable people.
I have a 2000 A6 2.7T and just started driving it again for the first time in 7 months (was at school). The battery died, was jumped a few times, but we decided to just get a new one. My problem is the radio. It turns on and stays in SAFE mode. I took it to an Audi dealership and had my code retrieved but they came back and told me that it wasn't entering because the attempted battery jumps had blown out a "module" in the radio. I asked how a blown out radio could still turn on and stay in safe mode and they said it happens. Anyways, they quoted me $400 for a new radio thus leading me to my questions.
1: Does this sound like it makes sense? Ever heard of a blown radio still turning on?
2: Anyone know any online sites or forums, a direct link would be lovely, where I can find a stock radio for my car for under $400? I don’t want an aftermarket one because I like the way the stock looks in the car. I figure there have to be a few people out there who replace their stock ones with navigation or LCD screens or whatever.
Thanks for any feedback you can offer.

The stock radio will still turn on with a blown secuirity circuit board, it happens sometimes and we usually send them back as a core and the company can replace that circuit board but it would be cheaper just to get another one from audi. The ones you'll get from audi usually are re-maned units that previously went bad before.
