rattling noise rear 2005 A6 Control Arm?
I have a 2005 A6 3.2 with 135k miles. I have begun hearing a rattling noise coming from the right rear when going over rough roads or bumps. Took it to an independent Audi mechanic and he said he couldn't see anything and begun to try and sell me new rear shocks. He has done a lot of work for me and has always been honest.
I understand the front has four upper control arms stabilzier links, lower control arms etc... but does the rear have the same thing? I have been doing a search for pictures of the rear suspension but can't come up with anything decent. My mechanic said he couldn't see the top of the shock or the mount without taking it apart. I think it's some sort of bushing gone bad. Any thoughts? Some pics would be great. Does the rear also have upper and lower control arms, stabilizer links, etc...? Once I know what makes up the rear end I can maybe go on ebay and maybe start looking for replacement parts. Thanks everyone!

WOW thanks much! Are you sure you didn't post the manual for the space shuttle? The Germans sure know how to over engineer. I'm putting my money on the rear stabilizer links, or as they call it the " cushioned connecting rod " I am replacing the front upper control arms and stabilizer links, so I might as well replace the rear links as well. At least this is the cheapest part in the rear and I'm guessing if it rattles in the front, it rattles in the back as well. Thanks again!
