Default Rear Brakes won't release

I'm doing, what I thought would be very simple, rear brake pad replacement on my 1997 A6 Quattro Wagon. I removed the caliper but can't get the cylinder to retract. It's locked, hydrolically (sp?), and I've tried many things to force it back in. I even removed the emergency brake cable to be sure that the acuator was not holding it in place.

Anyone have any experience with this sort of issue?

Thanks,
Tom

The cylinder twists in clockwise mate. There is a special tool you need, you can rent it from autozone.

Thanks, both of you. Problem solved! I should have remember this from when I did a brake job on a Pontiac Fiero, they have the same handbrake system on them as well.
