My 2001 doesn't have the exhaust coming out of the back bumper. There is the solid black plastic covering the dual exhaust. Does anyone know if I can get a 2002 and on lower bumper piece to replace mine?

Once I find a piece or have mine cut to fit exhaust. What is the ballpark I would spend to have a muffler shop bring the tips out of the bottom of the bumper? I'm not looking for performance. I'm just looking to get the newer A6 look. I want the tips of the exhaust to be visibal?

 

Collision parts database I have suggests that the black piece hat looks like an insert is actually part of the bumper cover itself. Unless you just want to CAREFULLY cut your own tailpipe opening, you would have to get a cover for the '02 model, along with some other parts like inner supports / brackets, etc that are also different. If you can find it, a complete USED bumper assembly would set you back about $350 - $450 + another $200 or so for painting and installing it.

 

Thanks for the info. I'll have to look into it. I may need to have the rear bumper replaced anyway. I might ask the body shop to put a 2002 bumper on.
