REPLACEING DUAL MAS FLYWHEEL NOISEY
Has anyone replaced there flywheel with a light weight single mass (Fidanza)? Do you like it I destroyed my old one and have to replace it but I heard bad things about light wieght flywheels. Noise and thaat the light wieght does not help with launching. Please comment on this if you have used one in a A6.

RE: REPLACEING DUAL MAS FLYWHEEL NOISEY
I have a Fidanza in my car, just installed it with a Carbon/Kevlar clutch. Depending on the driving you do will depend on how much you like it. The clutch travel feels stock, but grabs MUCH MUCH LOWER. Instantly. Also, it is difficult to "feel out" the clutch with the light flywheel. I found myself stalling, or worried about hill starts alot more since I have gotten it. I have driven standards my whole life, and I race motorcycles, so I know tough clutches. This does work just fine, and it grabs real well, it just is quite a bit more difficult to be smooth with. If you want the performance, go for it and you'll never go back. If you want a smooth daily driver that won't see 400hp, consider resurfacing your flywheel.
Also, if your car is still running and driving and you need a unit to send out for surfacing, I have my stock dual mass unit. I'd consider letting it go if there was interest.

No problems with the AWE products. Stage 2 clutch feels the same as OEM but is rated to 450hp. Lightweight flywheel produces some harmonics when accelerating slowly and in a "too tall" gear, but that is normal per AWE. I don't hammer it off the line so I can't tell if it revs quicker (the shop guys who did the work think it does), but gas mileage improved very slightly.
