Replacing Brake/Stop lightbulb (2001 A6 4.2

I have an 2001 Audi A6 4.2 and need to replace the brake lights. Imagine my surprise when the owners manual reccomends me going to the dealer just to replace the bulb. Before I start playing around with the light housing...is this a straight forward proposition? Thanks!

Yes. Audi likes to think the typical Audi driver knows nothing bout maintaince - just like there customer service [sm=chairshot.gif]

I am not sure how similar or different it will be from my experience. I have a '01 A6 2.7T, and I had to replace my driver's side brake/stop light. I simply removed my jack, unsnapped the housing which has two black tabs, and then pulled housing out. My bulbs are the standard 1197 series and the total time took me approx 2 minutes.
