Replacing exhaust 'loose flanges'
Hi, my exhaust is in pretty good shape for 214k miles, but the flanges that join the middle and rear box have rusted through. They are a loose type so no way of replacing without removing pipe from silencer so from a parts point of view it appears only option is a full replacement of both boxes.
Car is '95 2.6 V6 Auto..(EU Car) So I am thinking of cutting the pipe to remove the curved end (see image here - http://flic.kr/p/czcxTY) from both pipes and then use a standard 60mm connector to join them together. Would this work ok? There is a bend in the pipe so the joining section needs to be fairly short. I have similar problem at the downpipe to Cat end - though flanges are good, bolts are shot but fused in loose flange - do I need heat to get them out? |
