Default replacing muffler

I need to replace the central muffler in my car but I see that it is a one piece welded assy. from the cat back. Does anyone know if the replacement mufflers like these Audi Exhaust Muffler (A6 Quattro) - Bosal 284-811 | FCP Euro
are designed to be clamped to the original tailpipes? or do they need to get welded in like the originals are?
(I just heard back from FCP and they say that you just cut the pipes going to the rear mufflers even to the pipes on this new center muffler and use the same size tube clamps that connect to the catalytic converter pipes...)

I would not mind something that replaced the entire cat back system with something that freed up the exhaust a little so if you have any recommendations I would like to hear those too

Thank you
