RS6 Front End - Remove Fan?
I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the RS6 front end swap with an A6? I have a 2001 A6 4.2 Quattro and I'm going to havea shop replace the front end with an RS6 front. The only part about the install that I havea concern with is removing one of the fans. They did it to a friend of mines 4.2 and they said that 1 of the fans had to go because they didn't fit with the RS6. He said it ran fine but it kind of scares me.
Does anyone know if this sounds right? It's a big change for the car and I want to make sure it goes right.
Thanks!

RE: RS6 Front End - Remove Fan?
I just replied to Kris from AudiWorld about the same question (I am assuming that you are the friend he was talking about), and I recall that a horizontal metal support bar had to be cut down so it was not interfereing with the fan. Sorry, I have no pics of this, but I did look under the hood of a 4.2 with this conversion, and I noticed that the metal brace was cut. I think the material was aluminum, bright metal, and goes horizontally across just forward of the fans.

RE: RS6 Front End - Remove Fan?
Sorry for the slow response but I've been out of town for a couple of days.
Boston - Yes, Kris was looking into this for me on Audiworld. The shop that is doing the conversion is going to cut the bumper rail, so the fan will fit. Can't wait for the RS6 front end to go on! I've seen a lot of cheap looking aftermarket RS6 conversions but this one is the real deal, so I'm very excited. I'll get pics up when I get it done. It goes in on the 21st and will take about a week.
I'm not sure what fan it is but I'm not going to take a fan out. I was at the point where I was not going to do the conversion if I had to go without a fan.
