Default Second remote programming

Hi all
Just bought my "new" 2007 A6 with 15kmi on it. Quattro loaded except for Nav. Only came with one key fob. Saw exact replacement on Ebay for $35, same FCC code and ID #, and have read about "self programming" here on the forums. Will that work for my year or am I stuck paying the big bucks at the dealer?
Appreciate the help,
Thanks

As one could say - you have not done your home work on keys.

Never buy keys off ebay, and you need a vag com to program key fobs on later model audis.

And you need the SKC - only from dealers, sorry...

Default Remote Key

Actually I have done my homework, but there are conflicting comments in the forum. Ebay has a remote with blank key with the EXACT FCC code and ID number as mine, so I don't know why it wouldn't work. Secondly some say you can program a key yourself with one in the door and the other in the ignition, and others say only the dealer can do it. Is there any wonder why people like me get confused with all the "expert" opinions offered? If a remote has the exact ID/FCC codes on it, there should be no reason why it can't be reprogrammed. I'm humble enough to admit when I'm wrong so please, if I am, tell me why.
Thanks

Home work:

1. Remote programing=> DIY
2. Immobilizer programming => dealers (SKC)

The FCC numbers are meaningless. Completely useless when trying to find compatible remotes.

The part numbers must match or be one of the interchangeable ones. Such as if the part # ends in P you can buy a remote that ends in E but not T or S.

You can program your own remotes if your car is 2001 or older. Maybe 2002, not sure what year the immobilizer was introduced.
