Selflevelling suspension on 01 A6 4.2, how can I tell what suspension I have??
 

Hi, I'm not sure what suspension I have in my 01 A6 4.2, I want to replace struts and the guy in tirerack.com asked me what suspension I have. Can anyone tell me how to figure it out? DO YOU ALSO KNOW ANY WEBSITES WHERE I CAN BUY CHEAP struts? I'm not looking for anything SPORT , I need just nice smooth, comfortable run. Thank you

I don't belive the 01 had an option for a self levelling suspension. The only two suspensions in 01 were the standard suspension and the sport suspension.The sport suspension was part of a sports package that included thefollowing changes: Sport Package: 17 inch 5-spoke forged alloy wheel 255/40 17 with performance tire; Front sport seats; Sport suspension (Body lowered 20mm; spring rate 30% stiffer; shock absorber 40% more compression damping; increased diameter stabilizer bar). Since a prior owner may have changed the tires to 17s, I would look at your seats and see if they are the sport seats (extra side cushioning like a race car). If you have the sport seats you probably have the sport suspension. If you don't have the sport seats you probably have the standardsuspension.

thanks, i dont have sport package for sure so I quess suspension is regular to, no headaches then :) thank you
