Default Several small irritating problems, need help.

Hi guys, I'm having some problems with my A6 2.4 V6. I'm hoping someone here might be able to shed some light.

Firstly, my remote key will happily unlock the car with the unlock button, but refuses to lock the car, I have to physically go to the car every time and lock it with the key. The key shows the relevent indicators, but if I lock with the key and then press the lock button, I still get the rapid flash to indicate the car isnt locked. Any suggestions?

Second, my Parking Sensors are not working, and havn't been since I have had the car (3rd owner) neither did they work in my previous A6. I get the flashing yellow indicator on the dash, hand book simply shows that this indicates a fault and doesnt specify a solution.

Third, my horn stopped working last night, I changed the fuse and it started working again, after driving a while and using it for a bit today it has gone again, repacing the fuse has done no good and it completely refuses to work now.

There are probably some more problems I'm not thinking of right now but theseare my top priority for repair, and help would be grately appreciated as I might have to do most of the work myself.

Thanks.

All electrical problems... point towards the Ignition switch going bad.. Just a Guess

Well the parking sensors seem quite capable of indicating a fault which I assume wouldn't work at all if there was a fault with the ignition system.

As with the horn, it has been working fine until now where as the other faults have been there since I got the car.

I always troubleshoot from the obvious. I assume you have two keys, and neither unlock the doors. In that case, I cannot help.

Horn. Get a continuity tester and confirm there is current going to the horn. If not, again check or replace fuse. If fuse is good and still no current, then the problem would appear to be back in the steering column. No suggestions as I would be scared to take mine apart.

I don't have parking sensors. I do have the rear parking sensor system, but nothing on the dash. It just beeps when I get close to something behind me.

Not really helpful, but best I can do. Knock on wood, but at 140k miles I have not had electrical problems (other than a rear window that sometimes sticks open).

Default Nope

Actually I have only 1 key, the previous owner lost one. In my country it's pretty difficult to get another one since there are only a handful of Audi's here.

As for the horn, it started working again all by itself after I gave it a good wash, so I have no clue what went wrong there, maybe some dust stuck somewhere or something.

Still no luck with the parking sensors, I'm going to try take the bumpers off if I get time and test the resistances of each sensor as suggested, failing that I'll have a fiddle with the wiring etc.

Bet you there's one common ground for these systems (outta something like 12 grounding points)... find and clean. Brown is usually the color of choice for Audi ground wires.
