Default Shuddering below 2000rpm with light throttle

Has anyone experienced a shuddering below 2000 rpm while being light on the pedal, kind of like a laboring engine in a gear that is too high for the speed?

My 2.7T (manual) will sometimes drive very smoothly and sometimes (more like most of the time) will revert back to this shuddering problem. I'm wondering how a failing DV feels. I have 99K miles and the engine runs VERY strong - quite a surprise for such a big car!

No idea, but your timing belt has been changed right?

Bad plugs, coil packs? Do you have a check engine light?

Hey Hey,

Well i have a 2.8L 30v however had the same problem. I had a misfire on number 2 cylinder one the engine light finally showed it self. I just replaced the coil pack (incredibly simple) and I just bought new plugs to completely correct it.

Once the coil pack was on the pop firing stopped but mild stuttering continued so i went with the next most obvious...plugs. However the last ditch is wiring. I will keep you posted after i change the plugs. Cheers.

Timing belt and all that just done, including some valve work because belt broke on PO. I have a CEL - misfire on no.5, have changed plugs and switched coils and swapped ignition amp module wiring. Maybe I have a wiring issue to the coil - I have been searching a lot and my CEL code and shudder all point to the same thing - spark problems. I need to rig up a test light so I can see if I am getting a signal to the coil....

Hmm...clogged fuel injector?

Getting out of my knowledge base now.

I noticed that my temp gauge was acting up so I replaced the sensor - it was the old black one in there. Since then I could swear it is running better, but a bit more shaky than any car I have owned before when laboring in a high gear. It might just be a worn snub mount that is making the shake more pronounced??

The code has changed from a P0305 to a P0300 (random misfire). I think this means that the computer was satisfied that cyl 5 is no longer the issue, so it cleared P0305 (I didn't clear anything myself). A P0300 points towards a central issue, so one of the suspects could be the coolant sensor, or maybe I do have DV problems - the turbo whistle doesn't seem as predictable as I thought it would be, so maybe I have some sticking going on? Or is the only DV failure mode a torn diaphragm. I wish I had driven the car before the timing belt broke then I would know if everything is at it was or not. I will say that it has PLENTY of power though. The idle isn't one of those that you can't feel, but it is better than my A4 V6, which I think has a bad snub mount. Should it be silky smooth?

Thanks for your suggestions - fuel injector is on my 'to do' list if the misfire becomes specific to no.5 again.

sounds like a torn throttle body boot. take the center engine cover off and inspect the y-shaped boot underneath.

I had the same hunch about the boot and checked it along with removing and reseating all of the hoses that I could reach on the boost side, but no change.
