Spare Keys

What are my options for getting hold of a spare key, I bought the car with one flip out key and one plastic emergency key, the tag with key number is not with the car, and so far I have not been able to get it from the leasing company who the car came from.

I know I can get a spare on ebay and program it myself for the door locking functions, but I would need a blade cutting to match my existing key as well.
Am I right in thinking that the immobiliser transponder part of the key will have to be re-programmed by someone with specialist equipment, and that I cannot do it myself in any way.

I am in the North of England, if anyone knows who might help me out with this I would like tohear about them please.

Thanks
Phil

I think you will need to ask an audi dealer to get the key setup to your immobiliser. You will have to give them all the details on your car and maybe have to wait a month for a new key, that's what i have heard.
I wonder if there is a way to bypass the audi immobiliser ;-)

you will deffenitly have to have audi cut it for you. most dealers have the equipment on hand. the one i work for does anyway...
spare remotes are somthing like 150usd. and the actual key portion shouldn't be more than 30.

I'm in the US. I was quoted $282 for the key and remote(it'stwo different pieces)and $45 to program it. I got the key and remote off ebay for $30. The key was made out of a metal that the Audi key cutter wouldn't cut. I had to pay $35 for the key blade. They cut it and charged $45 to program it. I was out $110, but that was better than the $300+. Good Luck.

Wow, I must have been lucky. I bought a used remote key (in good shape) for 16.00 plus shipping, and the blank key (cheap metal was used) from some guy in the UK for less then 5 bucks shipped!
The Audi dealer did not want to cut the key because of the cheap metal, but I was able to get a VW dealer to cut it, it took them 2 tries as a result of the metal (btw you have to instruct them to cut the key manually and slow, and not auto and it will work). Also the VW dealer did not charge a dime for cutting the key!

I got out with a secong remote for my car for less then 30 bucks, and it has been working just fine (better then the key the car I had been using).
