Default Spilt water in electronic park brake switch

Hi there,

I own a 2005 audi a6 3.2 Quattro triptronic and a while ago I spilt some water down into the electronic park brake/hand brake switch in the center console and now when I pull it up the light for the brake flashes on the dash board, but the park brake does not engage. I have been quoted on get a replacement switch and have researched on you tube how to put it in but would this likely fix the issue or should I bring it to an audi specialist?
