Default Split CV boot kit?

Does anybody make a front CV split-boot kit -- two halves that bolt together -- so you don't have to take everything apart? On a previous car many years ago, maybe a FWD Buick Skylark, I found one and it was an easy DIY repair.

thanks,

I heard of them but have not seen any. There are a few issues with those kind of kits. And they will not last long. So i suggest do it once and do it right. Whats the year make model of the car?

Default 99 A6 Avant, 2.8, auto

a full repair is beyond what I would do myself.

Those split boots may be available from JC Whitney, however I dought that they will last very long.

Trust me, go with a solid boot.
I tried the split (quick) boot on the Elantra a year back and it was a total failure because the solvent that suppose to "weld" the halves together caused the rubber to crack right away when trying to tighten the clamp around it.
By the way....I followed the assembly/installation instructions to a T.

I ended up replacing the CV axles when changing the faulty transmission.

Yep Midniteoyl has the answer!

If you get high quality duct tape instead of the ducky type it will be even better!

I can't tell if you are serious ;-)

If you are, how does one distinguish 'high quality duct tape'?

thanks

gorilla duck tape is by far the best and longest lasting i have ever used (even under wet conditions).
