Sport suspension compaired to aftermarket
I have a 2000 2.7T Quattro sedan with sport suspension (I think). I also just bought some 18 wheels with 235 40 18 rubber and the car looks fugly with the stock suspension. I need to come down at least an inch or more to get the car looking decent.
I am sure this has been asked a million times but....
What lowering springs are the best for the money. Anyone know of any good deals?
I know the debate between springs and coilovers.... I am just too much of a tightwad to shuck out the $$$ for coilovers so it must be springs.
What springs are cheep / good?

We need some pics here. If you have the sport suspension and STILL think you need to lower it, you're going for slammed. Can't advise you here. If you're running standard and need to lower, check the C5 A6 forum on www.audiworld.com -- ton's of discussion there on good setups.
Hint: My car (see sig pic) has an OEM sport suspension.

Obviously they are not the 18's...
Only 16's .... they are my winter tires....
Believe me .... when the 18's are on the car sits way too high.
Primarily interested in decent lowering springs that will give me no more than a 2" drop.

As I suspected... You have the non-sport suspension. I have those same wheels and I don't have anywhere near that much gap...

Here's what my summer (17x8") wheel looks like...

As you can see, the wider wheel fills out the wheel well better, but in no case do I have the gap you do. So, you're looking at some new Eibach springs and Koni shocks (essentially the defacto standard upgrade when you're not doing coilovers). There are other options out there as well (e.g., H&R) and here's a good link to see discussion of several options: http://sonolithics.com/files/a6_links.html#suspension
Sport suspension is lowered by 20mm relative to stock and has 30% stiffer springs with 40% greater shock damping.

I believe you that I don't have the sport suspension...
But... there has to be a way to tell for sure.... I bet it is in the build code... I have just been too lazy to dig it out.
After reading some posts... looks like Eibach pro kit is the way to go.
Any thoughts on H&R sport springs and a decent set of dampeners / shocks?

I just checked the model guide on www.audiworld.com and it does not even list the sport suspention for 2000. It lists the sport package for 00, but it only includes the wheels & steering wheel -- no sport seats or sport suspension.
In 01, the sports package included seats, suspension, and wheels.

Depending on when your car was made would determine if it has sport. I think inmid 2000 they came out with sport susp on the A6...but it rode the same height as non-sport.
