steering angle fault after steering rack replacement

I replaced my steering rack and am now getting a constant ABS light. I checked the codes and have a Steering Angle Sensor Fault - Intermittant. I also occasionally get a crunching sound when steering at or near full ock first thing in the morning. Do I need to recalibrate the steering angle sensor and, if so, how do I do that? What else could be the problem? The steering wheel MAY have turned in relation to the rack. If so, how do I know which way to unwind it?

Thanks,

Bob
