2006 A6 3.2 w/ 64K miles; Here's my tale in 3 events with reference to the following thread https://www.audiforums.com/forum/gen...lution-167276/
This thread was helpful, but I'm not convinced it the TCU.
Events occur over the course of 5 days:
1) locked in park, EPC and check engine illuminated, pulling a p0706 code - I have it towed, the code cleared and it runs fine
2) TCS and check engine light on, limp mode - I drive it 2 miles to my favorite shop, they replace engine coil good as new - I also have the ft brakes redone
and the is a continuing annoyance of a adaptive light defect
3) 3 days later - AGAIN - locked in park, EPC and check engine illuminated; again I have it towed

I don't have code for the last 2 events.

One of the other symptoms I've noticed is infrequently (1 out of 5-10 times) when I turn the key in the ignition, instead of starting immediately, there is a brief pause after the first firing and this has been happening for month without degradation.

I could be avoiding the obvious (TCU) but I'd hate to replace that and find out its something else. Can anyone think of something else to try first or is it the TCU?
Also looking for a way to get it out of park. I took out the ashtray and see 2 screws but not cover or hole to access the 'white button' referred to in other posts.
