Suspension woes - 1998 A6 quattro
I've got an A6 quattro 1998 with 140,000+ kms on it. I can't get away from constantly returning problems with front end. I've had tie-rod ends replaced several times (both sides), the majority of the suspension arms replaced over time, but I have a recurring problem with the car sounding like a taxi cab when going over bumps - particularly small, wash-board style bumps. The sound is particularly noticeable when I am going very slowly, with a light application of the brakes. It's as if the tire is bouncing quickly up and down, and almost rattling as it does so. Repair guys have not been able to solve the problem, even though many of the components have been changed. I've been under the car with one of the mechanics, and followed him as he has tried to tug and pull every component to find looseness - nothing! Shocks seem fine, too.
Any ideas?

find a new mechanic, one that knows what they are doing. It might take time but with an experienced mechanic they will figure it out without throwing new parts at it unless needed.
