Swapping 4.2L Auto Trans into 2.7t Allroad
Hey Everyone,
My tranny in my allroad just started slipping beyond drive ability and I am looking for an upgraded tranny to put in without braking the bank. I was thinking of putting in the 4.2L auto tranny into the allroad 2.7t mainly for the smaller final drive gear. The 2.7t tranny gearing is so bad on the highway and I know this is the main cause of these transmission failing, not even considering the various other problems.
I have searched everywhere and could not find any information on swapping a 2002 audi a6 4.2L trans into a 2002 audi allroad 2.7t. Is it even possible? I have read a few articles about swapping the 4.2 manual tranny into the 2.7t, but not anything about the auto. Is the transaxle gearing different in the 4.2?
Thanks in advance,
Danny
