Its to turn off the Sensors that work the alarm.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Correct...it turns off the motion sensors inside the car so when you lock it and say, leave your dog in the car, it won't set off the alarm.

Right! I learned this after looing in my manual. I was lucky that my used car came with one. My dog set off the alarm a few times when I was picking up some take out food. Hit the interior movement button, and no alarm.

Just to make sure, did you look for the manual in the cubby hole under the steering column?

what....there is a cubby hole under the steering column? Man I have had this car for two years and never noticed that. I haven't looked as of yet but I am going to check for it at lunch...wicked.

well for me
that cubby is missing entirely.....................
that's what sucks... missing not only the books, cubby itself with it.

Its also useful for those rare times when you're asleep in the car. I fold down the seats in the A6 and stretch out in the back and its a great sleep on those rare occasions. The first time I forgot to turn off the motion sensor and as I turned over in the middle of the night it scared the crap out of me.
