Thanks for the tip on removing the governor..now, about turbos..
Ok, thanks to the input by you guys I now know that I can remove the governor on my '05 A6 4.2L to go above and beyond 140 mph.... Now as for acceleration (and aside from launching); is it even worth considering adding a turbo???? Or, should I be satisfied with it as is?
And where can I read up on turbos in general (yeah yeah, just google it right)? I see everyone throwing that word around but I'm a layman when it comes to autos.

If you are a poor man forget about it. If you are a rich man get a supercharger at MTM http://www.mtm-online.de/en/index.ph...3&FZID=A6C6246 If you are a smart man get a C6 RS6 and import it from Europe.

Since I'm between poor man and smart man I guess I will look at the RS6... But I just got this A6 in December and I damn near sleep in her! lol I don't know much of the car world, so I don't want the upgrade for earning purposes (wont stand a chance against guess that supe their rides up for a living). lol Since the weather is warming up here I'm just going to focus on 'beautifying' the exterior...I'll set aside a lil fund for the supercharger if its not in the thousands. Thanks fellas....

Hey Kev, that supercharger on MTM (awesome friggin site I might add), says that it'll boost the A6 to 450 hp. Does that mean it'll increase just the acceleration and not the top speed? I know you previously mentioned that the U.S. A6's governor limits it to around 140ish mph top speed. And I used an online currency converter to figure out the price for that supercharger. In Euros it's 20134,00, that's about $2,550.00 US currency right? If that's correct then that'll be next summers modification (unless my salary jumps because the 2009 S6 and S5 are on my future radar).

Either the listing for the 450 HP has a typo in it, or they are just nuts with that price, 20134....as in Twenty thousands... You might as well get a used +400 hp car for that price.
I hope it is just a typo, because with a 1 Euro=$ 1.2662 exchange rate the price for the conversion would be 25,494 dollars.
P.S. The conversion's detailed page shows actually the same + twenty thousands price...

You are probably right. The smart sensible man could get by with the Z06's 432 hp. However, the smart man with a wild streak would want to get the 572 hp that comes with the RS6.
