im worried sick about ruining my car..can someone please help me out here..

What's the mileage?

Did they provide service records when you bought it?

Get a carfax done, find out what city/state the car was last registered in and start calling all of their audi dealers and german mechanics to see if the belt has been changed. If you can get a hold of the prior owners name track them down and ask. If you are unsuccessful, well there isn't much you can do to verify the belt is new based on it's appearance. You would be best off just replacing it.

Welcome to the forums and enjoy the car.

thanks a lot ..the car has done about 69890 kms ..the car engine & drive train falls under the insurance given by the local dealership( by autogard)..will i be able to claim this expenditure from them?

also i plan to install the K&N air filter as well.. is it possible for me to do it myself..is it like a plug & play style installment..

i appreciate you guys getting back to me..

The insurance will not cover it unless it breaks, even then they might not. So you have 70k kilometers not 70k miles right? If so then you are not in need to change the belt as you have about 42k miles on the car. I plan on changing my 2.8's belt again at 165k miles. So around 80-85k miles per belt.
