Default Need input on 30v powerplants.

Hey, I'm wanting to upgrade to a C5 audi, my 90 still runs well. I love the inline 5, but its time for a larger car. I wanted to get a collective input on the 30v motor:

A) Tune up are most important, how long do to the coil packs usually last?
B) Any major recalls on this motor?
C) Has the auto. transmission gotten any better?

Any thoughts on past experiences would be great. Oh yeah, don't laugh. I'm wanting a station wagon for my company. I think they would be much faster on county roads than the traditional truck or SUV.

don't really see the coil packs going on these the maintance intervals are every 8k ( by the way i'm in Toronto Canada so these are in kilometers)

there are recalls on these vehicles quite a few actually but all u need to do is go to your local dealer and get them to punch in the VIN and that will tell you if there are any recalls outstanding

no problems from the Auto transmissions that i've seen

be sure to get the car checked out before you get one perferably by a Audi dealer they see these things every day they know what to look for I might costb u a extra couple of dollars now but it will save you a bunch in the long run

Thanks for the insight. So a dealership is the way to go when buying a used audi? I'lve been observing C5 audis with less than 80,000 miles on the chassy.

As of now, an Audi/Porsche dealership is being constructed in my town, it think the dealer would be helpful. I have a question; would buying a car from a wholesale dealer be risky to buy from?

Overall 30v are roadwarriors!

Thanks again.

I think the wholesaler can be a mixed bag. On of the wholesalers here in town goes to the Audi auction in Atlanta every month. I told him exactly what I wanted and how much I wanted to spend. He actually got me a better car than I expected for the same cost. I ended up getting a 2001 A6 2.7T Quattro Sport with onlu 52k miles on it for $USD 18k, which I consider to be a steal. I've had to put a little work into it getting the small stuff done: a few gaskets, axle boot, etc. Considering the price I gotit for and the quality of the car, it's worth it and my experiance with the wholesaler has been very positive.

BUT, I have driven some of the other cars he has brought back from auction. A few of them have been total ****, but there is no real distinction in price. You CAN get cars from wholesalers that are as good as the dealership for a lower price. Keep in mind though, the warranty might e worth it to you.

Bottom line is, if you go to a wholesaler, do your homework and know what you want. Go over the car with a fine tooth comb and be picky. You can luck out like I did or you can get bamboozled.

yes ushally the Wholesalers buy the cars that the dealer don't want to deal with to many problems and a dealer would be a good idea to get one from if you can get one with a assured warrenty
