2001 A6 2.7T questions
Just got my first Audi!!! It is a 2001 A6 2.7T tip. I love the car, but have a few questions. My car has the sport edition seats and seems to sit lower than other A6's I have seen. I do not have the original window sticker and the car does not have the sport edition 17's. Is there anywhere you can go to check the VIN to see what options the car came with from the factory? I've tried the dealer with no luck.
Second question is, I am considering the APR chip and Bi-Pipe. Does anyone have any first hand experience with these items? I would like to know some opinions not posted on their web page. Thanks much.

RE: 2001 A6 2.7T questions
I had the APR chip installed on 2001 A6 2.7T. Car really flys- although I am cautious with transmission (although it surely can handle the added torque).
Have the APR dealer install the ECU chip with the ability to switch back to "orignal" mode for use by other (e.g. teenage drivers, valets etc.) not to mention your dealer. You switch between modes via the crusie control button. Very easy.

RE: 2001 A6 2.7T questions
I have a 2000 2.7T
The Sport package came with 3 spoke steering wheel, bucket seats, twin spoke 16" rims and sport compound tires.
I believe the suspension on the 2.7T is already the equivelent of the 2.8 sport package and therefore did not change.
I do not have sport package and mine seems a little lower and stiffer than a regular 2.8
First thing I did was replace the wheels and tires cos the 16" all season Conti tires were useless at the first sign of rain!
I now have 18" wheels and 255/40 michelin pilot sports - they stick now but I had to space wheels out by 5-8mm to clear suspension!
As I recall 2000 options were:
Convenience package - Home link remote in visor, memory drivers seat, power passenger seat, auto dimming rear view mirror.
Premium Audio - Bose system
Hot weather package - Solar powered sunroof(runs the internal fan when engine is off), power rear window shade and manual side shades in rear doors.
Cold weather package - Heated seats and mirrors, ski bag in rear seat armrest to trunk.
There may have been a leather package but I've never seen a 2.7T without leather.
Other options inccluded two types of walnut and a maple trim with different styles of leather seats and metal dash/door accents packaged as trim themes.
Hope this helps

RE: 2001 A6 2.7T questions
Yeah, I have found out that mine has the sport package. I don't have the three spoke steering wheel because the car has the multifuntion wheel package (not sure what all else is included but I know it is pre-wired for a phone). Thanks for the reply and all the help.
I too am looking for some different wheels. I really like the look of the 17" mesh style wheels found on the newer sport package. (ImolaS4 has them on his car) I just can't decide if I want the factory wheels or just bite the bullet and get some BBS.
