The bearing for the serpentine belt tensioner failed today and the tensioner wheel fell off. Its time to replace the timing belt anyway now, so I'll do both now. Is this bearing usually not replaced when the timing belt is replaced? The kits for sale dont include the bearing, only the serpentine belt.

Any good DIY's for this job?

Any recommended sites to buy timing belt kit and bearing?

(The km age on the car is 302000 km (188000 miles) and the timing belt was replaced at 198000 km (123000 miles))

 

I'm not sure if you meant you have the 2.8l engine, or if in fact you have the 2.4l. If so, I doubt many people on this forum will be familiar with the 2.4l engine as I'd guess 80+% of users are in the US. The 2.4 was not offered here.

Anyways, I doubt the 2.4 and 2.8 are all that different. There are countless write ups on changing the timing belt if you search google. Now as far as finding parts, I don't know as again, I'm not familiar with the 2.4l.

I just bought a kit from Blauparts.com and rented their tools to do my timing belt job this last weekend. Blauparts is located in Wisconsin. Too bad I had paid 1000.00 2.5years and 25k miles ago to a local indy mechanic to have it all replaced. But my thermostat and water pump failed early.
