tip in first
not sure if there is suppose to be an override when you have your a6 in manual, but unless i put the gas to the floor the trans. will automatically shift into 2nd around 2400. 01 a6, 99kmiles and just purchased so hoping someone can ease my worries.

This is normal. I believe you can get this modified so that you can force it to stay in first until you physically slap to second, but I don't know the details of it. If you use the search command you may find a thread already started on this.

Here is a link as to the different recodings for the Tip transmission, but basically the stock coding is either 00012 or 01012. Changing it to either 00022 or 01022 will allow you to hold first gear and doesn't effect the way it shifts in D. 00032 or 01032 will make D sport mode and also hold first gear when in Tip mode. You can change these codings with a Vag-Com.
