Tiptronic k04 question

I currently have a tiptronic 2.7t and i have been looking into the k04 upgrade. A few people have told me that the transmission may not be able to handle the power. Are any transmission modifications necessary, and if so, what are they and what would the approximate cost be. Thanks

RE: Tiptronic k04 question

yea if i could i would like to stay tip. I def want to upgrade the turbos tho to the k04's. Is it not even worth it to do on the tip? Should i trade it in for a manual? The only problem that i face is that i spend most of my time in nyc as my username states and manual is a bit of a pain. Thanks

the tip tranny can handle about 300ft/lbs. i'm not sure how much the k04 adds, but you could always get a level 10 upgrade. do a search on it.

RE: Tiptronic k04 question

there is no one that has ever blown up a tiptronic trans because of too much power. there is only speculation about what a tip can hold.

I saw a A4 guy make 413whp on a tip trans.

the only thing you will need to worry about is the Tq. that is wise to get modified as this is the weak link.

other than that the only reason that your trans will fail is if you already have a worn out trans. the added tq and hp will cause more slipping of the clutches if they are already worn. A tip chip and or valve body mod will help to eliminate this

there are several S4 guys out there running there cars hard and still no issues. I run my car super hard with a sick amount of boost and my trans is still going fine
