hi

i recently got an Audi A6 1.9tdi sport Auto(2004)

i have the funtion for fingertip gear change on the steering wheel. its never worked, just wondering if audi put it on the steering wheel without the auctual funtion in the car or is there a problem with it.

please help

 

From the factory, the tip buttons do not work unless you put the shift lever in tiptronic mode. That is how mine was setup from the factory (2002 A6 4.2). However, I recoded the transmission with "00032" (I cannot recall the original code) and the tip buttons are active in Drive or Sport mode. Manual shifting with the buttons works great, and then the tranny will revert back to Drive or Sport after 10 seconds or so of no active shifting with the buttons (the same way the RS6 paddleshifters work).

Try to shift the shift lever to tiptronic mode, and then see fi your buttons work (you need to be moving, not stationary).
