Trannny woes
This is the deal I have a 99 a6 84000 miles Just recently my wife had trouble engaging into reverse. Now all the gear shifter lights are on. It shifts fine but wont go into overdrive and the tiptronic doesnt work. I dont know if its in limp mode or what. No codes to scan. But when I put it in reverse it sometimes slams in and if you keep your foot on the brake it feels as if it engages int reverse twice. Any ideas.

RE: Trannny woes
It's been nearly two years and it's a long shot, but did you solve this problem? My 1999 A6 2.5TDI Tiptronic with 107,000 miles has done the same thing four times in three months and I'm worried about the cause.
The gearbox seems to fall into emergency mode or limp home mode. All the gear position indicators in the computer display illuminate together and the car suddenly feels heavy. It's happened three times while coming to a slow stop after a journey but this evening did it while moving. Turning off the ignition and restarting the engine clears the fault.
Fluid levels? (How do I check?)
Broken sensor?
Leaking vacuum?
Would appreciate any help anybody can provide.
