Default Transmission ECU

I have heard about it a couple of times today. Can someone tell me what it is and what it does. Also does it even apply to a 2.7t tiptronic.

Thanks

Jason

Probably depends on which chip you're talking about. Yes, they work with the 2.7T tip. GIAG chip (as I understand it) only works when in tip mode and speeds shifts by 3X.

ECU (Engine Control Unit) chips and Tip chips are typically sold separately. Check the appropriate vendor's web site for details.

APR doesn't offer a "tip" chip, so as far as I know GIAC is the one to get.

VAST makes one now and it appears to be better than GIAC's, and cheaper.

2nd the Vast chip. There are several people that are actually switching from the GIAC to the Vast tip files. Also the vast TCU file has stages both 2 and 3. I am actually one of the switchers to vast. I would have to say the GIAC one is less effective than the VAST stage 2. I would go with the stage 3 expically if you are a chipped 2.7T

Deffinatly Agree. The Vast chip is for sure the way to go, I'm upset that I did not get the ECU chip from VAST because they will upgrade/change your chips for life! My shop charges $50 a program, but VAST will send you upgraded (stage 1 to 2 to 3) chips as long as you return the previous one. VAST is great, I would recomend them to anyone. I have been in contact with Prince and he is very helpful.
