The kit from blauparts comes with a hand pump for getting the ATF into the fill hole. You have to remove and clean the pan and replace the filter. If you don't follow the Bentley instructions for checking the ATF fluid level, you could ruin your transmission. VAG-COM is used to check the ATF temperature (www.ross-tech.com). Audi transmissions don't have a dip stick and they are expensive to service and repair.

I have a PDF of fluid change DIY that I created. Give me your email and I can send it to you.

As for the fluid, it is G052 162 A2.

Which fluid should I order for my grocery-getter?
*Dexron III or the 'G 052 162 A2' equivalent?

No tiptronic, so it seems either is fine for my needs.
