uh oh... brakes Help help
so being a newb at fixing brakes, i replaced my front pads and rotors. But, when i went to bleed my brakes... i did it wrong. And im sure i sucked a lot of air into the system. What now? do i need a power bleeder? Is air in the ABS module? can any brake shop fix this, or do i have to take it to audi?
thanks
thanks
The dealer uses a pressure bleeder, but you can try a gravity bleed before taking it there. Basically crack the bleeder open on the right front and leave it open for about 5 minutes (only crack the bleeder) follow it with left front, right rear and finish with the left rear. If that doesn't fix it you may need to take it to the dealer.
NOTE!: If the brake pedal feels spongy or soft, it is most likely due to the new brake pads, it will feel this way until the new pads have seated correctly. Give it 100 miles of driving before taking it to the dealer to have the brakes blead.

I tried to do a gravity bleed... topped off the fluid.. and no change after 20minutes... i only did this on the passenger front side. Could i buy a hand pump and tubing and make a pressure bleeder? Think the dealer will rape me on price?
hmm.. sorry if im a little confused. Should I open up all of the bleeder valves at the same time? and wait to see if any fluid bleeds through? Or try one by one, and if nothing comes out.. like what happened on the front passenger side, close the valve and try another?
No one bleeder at a time, but you have to go in that order i told you. Right front, left front, right rear, left rear. Fluid will come out, but it should come out very slowly, it may take a while. After its done go break in the new pads, and i mean do some ABS stops! Stomp the hell out of the pedal and damn near lock up the wheels. Thats what techs do so don't worry.
Those Speed Bleeders sound great. I am about to change my brakes. Do you know what size the A6 2.7T S-Line w/ 8 pad fronts/ four rear would use. I may give them a call and see if they know what parts I would need. I think it would be worth $30.
